Mission BBQ: A Taste of Tradition and Tribute
Created by two friends on a quest to serve, Mission BBQ is a true testament of passion for both country and food that personifies the American spirit. This barbecue joint isn’t just about serving up delectable smoked meats. It’s a tribute to the American military and first responders who work tirelessly to protect and serve.
The mission to serve in Mission BBQ started on September 11, 2011, exactly ten years after the incidents that forever changed America. The founders, Steve “Newbie” Newton and Bill Kraus, both had ties to the military and were determined to create an establishment that was as patriotic as it was palatable.
Their vision took the form of a patriotic-themed restaurant that is a mecca for barbecue lovers. With walls adorned with memorabilia from local servicemen and women, Mission BBQ serves a unique dining experience that’s a slice of Americana with every bite.
Each restaurant location is unique, filled with local touches that honor the servicemen and women of the community. At noon, the entire restaurant pauses to honor America with the National Anthem. It’s more than food. It’s about community, pride, and a love of country.
But let’s not forget about the mouth-watering barbecue. Cooked slow, served fast, Mission BBQ truly captures the essence and heart of American barbecue styles. From Texas-inspired brisket, smoky and rich, to St. Louis style ribs slathered in a sweet and tangy sauce, there is something to delight any barbecue enthusiast.
One unique aspect of Mission BBQ is their use of the Big Green Egg cooker. Known for its versatility and precision, the Big Green Egg is a beloved tool for any serious barbecue enthusiast. It’s not surprising that it would find a home in a place that reveres the art of BBQ. This kamado-style grill brings a unique flavor profile to the meats, locking in juiciness, and delivering that perfect smoky finish that is signature to Mission BBQ.
Every dish served is a tribute to the diversity and depth of America’s barbecue culture. From pulled pork to jalapeno and cheese sausage, the menu is a delectable journey down America’s barbecue trail. Moreover, to cater to diverse taste buds, they offer a diverse collection of regional sauces from all over the U.S.
The passion for barbecue doesn’t just end with the food. Mission BBQ has a history of supporting local charities and military organizations. They believe in serving those who serve and regularly hold charity events to support local communities and national causes.
Mission BBQ brings more than just good food to the table. It’s a testament to a love of country, community, service, and of course, a passion for mouthwatering barbecue. Come for the food, stay for the patriotism – this place is about as American as apple pie, or in this case, as American as a perfect brisket smoked on a Big Green Egg.
